Help Us Give Jaylee the Freedom She Deserves - The Accessible Van Life Chose Us!
As many of you know, our daughter Jaylee’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. At just 6 months old, she was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and needed a heart transplant. After 130 days in the hospital, 2 open heart surgeries, heart transplant, and a genetic deletion diagnosis - we finally brought her home at 10 months old.
Today, Jaylee is 6 years old, and while she has made huge strides, she continues to face many challenges.
Typically each year we do a t-shirt fundraiser and choose the organization we donate the funds to. In the past we have donated the funds to Tori’s Angels, books & wagons for Stead Family Children’s Hospital and Help-A-Heart. This year we thought we would combine Jaylee Strong 2025 t-shirt fundraiser with a handicap accessible van fundraiser.
Jaylee relies on a wheelchair for her primary transportation, which has opened up a new world of opportunities for her. However, it has also brought new obstacles, especially when it comes to transportation. Right now, transporting Jaylee and her wheelchair requires a lot of lifting, maneuvering, and disassembling. As she grows, this process is becoming more difficult and limits her ability to fully participate in daily activities.
That’s why we’re raising funds for an accessible van - a vehicle with a ramp or lift that can accommodate Jaylee and her wheelchair safely and comfortably. This van would make a world of difference for her, giving her greater independence, easier access to school, appointments, and family outings, and removing the physical barriers that we currently face.
This isn’t just about transportation - it’s about freedom, accessibility, and giving Jaylee the chance to explore the world without limits. And this doesn't mean we are giving up hope that Jaylee will walk independently on her own one day. I pray she will walk to and from the vehicle one day and we will continue to strive for that goal. However, we came to the conclusion that we need to do what's most enjoyable and easy for us and Jaylee now.
Any support you can provide, whether it’s purchasing a t-shirt (40% of each purchase is donated), 100% of cash donations (minus standard fees) are gifted, sharing this CausePage on socials, or spreading the word - means everything to us.
Thank you for helping us give Jaylee the mobility and opportunities she deserves!
